Working with Pixton!

Imagen
Hi! After taking a look to some of the blogs my partners created, I really felt curious about the Pixton activity proposed by María Teresa Quesada, in her blog: https://learnenglishwithtete.blogspot.com/2023/05/my-experience-with-pixton.html  I used Storyjumper with my students in the 3rd grade instead of Pixton, but now I will give it a try! However, I have decided to use Pixton with my students in the 5th grade, who are working on places to go on holidays. I have planned the following steps to carry out the task: 1. First, I will describe the task to my students, getting them to know that they will create their own comic. Then, I will give them a short tutorial on how to use Pixton, and as an example, we will see the comic created by the students of my partner María Teresa.  2. On the second session, my students will start creating their comics, in groups of three. They need to follow the topic to do so: "Our happy holidays!", in which they need to create a comic explaining

GENIALLY PROJECT

I have decided to carry out this task with my students of the 4th course of Primary Education. We have focused the projects with Genially on the topic that we are working on this unit: places to go on holidays.  After we decided to focus on this topic, I organized the students in pairs, according to their mixed-abilities, and they decided to choose one place for holidays each. Then, the pupils chose to do a presentation of their place of holidays and what you can do if you go there. They have been working on these presentations for 3 sessions, and in the fourth session, they have presented it to the rest of the class.  I decided to organize my pupils in pairs because they have shown a preference to work this way during the course. They like making decisions with their classmates and, as they are only 10 students in the class, it's better in pairs than in bigger groups. As for the timing, we dedicated three sessions to work on the computers creating the presentations because they fe

A VERY SPECIAL BOOK

https://www.storyjumper.com/book/read/157862741 Hello! In this link above you can read the book I have created with my 3rd course class. I decided to create one book with the whole class because I wanted it to be a cooperative work. As the class is composed by 14 students, I organized them in pairs, taking into account their mixed abilities, so that each pair would create two pages of the book (one with text, and another one with the picture). I have included this creation as one of the final products of the unit based on food vocabulary, which we are currently working on. So, before working with different oral and written activities to consolidate the vocabulary and structures, the pairs started creating their pages, in order. I have dedicated three sessions this week to create the story, keeping in mind that while a pair is working on the computer with me (creating their pages), the rest should be working too. For this reason, I had prepared some liveworksheets for them to still work

EDPUZZLE activity

ADVENTURE CAMP In this link above you can access my EDPUZZLE edited video about Adventure Camp. After carrying out this activity with my students in the 6th grade of Primary Education, now I can reflect on different aspects: This video is an authentic material as there are native children in it, so we are approaching the students to the real language. The objective was that after some planned tasks (pre-while-post listening) my students feel closer to the foreign language by using a significative video for it.  I have decided to use this video because it is adapted to the contents that we are working in class, about what we need to go on an adventure camp, and this topic is closely related to my students' world of interests. Therefore, there is a motivating factor in this choice. Also, it is well adapted to the level of my students, so they won't feel overwhelmed by the activity.  The main objective of this activity was to develop my students' listening skills, but also t

KING CHARLES III TIMELINES IN 6TH COURSE

Imagen
Hello!  In this post I want to comment about an activity that I have developed in my 6th course class, in order to complete a task for the course. This activity consisted in creating timelines with a tool called Timetoast. I have decided to develop the activity with 6th graders because I think they are the most prepared to use the tool and to work on a biography. In fact, we were working on the past simple of verbs, so I have included this activity as a practice for them, and I have linked it to the coronation of King Charles III this May 6th. Before I start a reflection about the activity, here you have the links to some of the timelines created by my students: https://www.timetoast.com/timelines/king-charles-iii-lucia https://www.timetoast.com/timelines/king-charles-iii-omar https://www.timetoast.com/timelines/king-charles-iii-marta https://www.timetoast.com/timelines/king-charles-iii-leo The main objectives of this activity were that pupils get used to work with ICT in class, also

Reflect of Reading habits

Let's take a look at some photos: It is hard to know what kind of books are the people in this library reading, but we can make a guess. In this library some people came to make a project, a research or to complete a task. Therefore, they are guided to read some specific texts about the topic of their work. These may be articles, scientific texts, encyclopaedias... But also, people may have come to the library just to enjoy their free time by reading a book. This book choice will depend on their own preferences.  For this reason, the first readers in this library may feel a bit stressed or anxious about the work they have to develop, while the others may feel relaxed and glad they can have a good time reading. In this second picture we can see an old woman reading a book to a child. I think they are reading a story together, maybe a tale. They seem to be enjoying this moment of reading together as they are spending quality time together as a family, as I think they are mum and daug
